House Manager
Act II Playhouse, the professional, non-profit theatre in the heart of bustling Ambler PA, is immediately hiring a Part-Time House Manager. The ideal start date is Tuesday, August 5. The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, house management experience, and be dependable, conscientious and a team player.
Salary: $16.00/hour
Approximate Start Date: As soon as possible
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Report to the Audience Services Manager.
- Address patrons’ needs in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Manage volunteer ticket takers.
- Keep the theater, lobby and public spaces neat and tidy.
- Reconcile concessions cash at end of each shift.
- Complete a House Manager’s Report form for every shift.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Audience Services Manager.
House Manager Work Schedule:
- The House Manager must be available to work the following 3 shows per week every week we are in performance: 8PM shows on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday evenings and Sunday 2PM matinees.
- Potential additional shifts for 2pm Wednesday and Thursday matinees are available if the house manager is available to work those two afternoons.
- Minimum total shift hours during performance weeks are approximately 12 to 15 hours per week.
- Shift hours vary depending on the length of the show:
- 90-minute show: 4-hour shift starts 2 hours before curtain. Shift for a 90-minute 8PM show is 6PM to 10PM; for a 2PM Sunday matinee, the shift is Noon to 4PM.
- 2-hour show: 4.5-hour shift starts 2 hours before curtain. Shift for a 2-hour 8PM show is 6PM to 10:30PM; for a 2PM Sunday matinee, the shift is Noon to 4:30PM.
- There are 5 performance weeks per show.
- There are no House Manager shifts during the weeks when Act II is not in performance. Non-show periods vary in length from 2, 3 or 4 weeks.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- 1 to 2 years retail and/or administrative experience, preferably working with the general public.
- Professional demeanor and great people skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a dynamic, creative environment.
- A passion for live theatre and the arts.
